World of Warcraft - Item Upgrading
The upgrade of an item allows players to boost the gear score of an item to 700 and also add an additional perk. Items can be upgraded if they are in your inventory and you decide to take them to the Kiln.
Certain items can be upp'd to benefit from their unique stats (like a perfectly broken point armour that is rolled for melee PvP) while others like weapons do not change significantly after an upgrade and thus aren't worth upgrading.
Weapons
Upgrades to weapons can boost their numerical stats, such as attack damage, crit chance and PvE/PvP damage. Weapons also have an unchanging bonus that increases their damage per second. A lot of weapons also come with a fixed bonus that is activated when three or more identical weapons are placed in a single unit. In some instances, this bonus can add up to more than the amount of damage that a weapon can sustain on its own.
The cost of upgrading a weapon's capabilities is contingent on the nature of the weapon as well as its current level. For example, an +2 weapon requires two standard Smithing Stones while a+3 requires four. The number of stones needed to upgrade a weapon will continue increase until it is required to use a higher tier of Smithing Stones, at which the amount will be reset to one.
Upgraded weapons can also alter their base stats. While this is usually beneficial but it can also have negative consequences too. Upgrades can make items impossible to use, unless you are exceptionally lucky.
Armor items can be upgraded to boost their stats. For instance, if you have chests or helms this will increase the defense of its base, while gloves and belts increase their strength and dexterity. Armor also offers an option to reroll its Enhanced Defense percent, which means that it could roll back to a lower number.
The upgrade template of a weapon will display the new stats it will gain upon upgrading along with the values of these stats. This means that a weapon will gain 3% attack damage if it is upgraded from an 8 attack damage sword to an 11 attack damage sword. However, the 3% doesn't mean that it will be hit for 3 times less often, since it is an absolute statistic.
A weapon can also be rerolled by pressing the green button, which is accompanied by circular arrows within the item menu. The item will be rerolled and alter its stats, but it will not reset the weapon's levels or bind it to account status.

Armor
A few tweaks to your armor can make an enormous difference in your ability to endure. Certain sets can offer massive improvements in the resistance to curses, poisons and fire as well as magic. This makes it easier to navigate difficult terrains. The more defense your character has, the more value you get from each point of health you have therefore it is important to improve your armor as much as possible.
To upgrade your armor, go to any of the Great Fairy Fountains in the game. There are four of them each of which requires you to complete a unique side quest that involves the Stable Trotters musical troupe. After you've completed the main side quest and have completed the corresponding fountain and then you can talk to any Great Fairy to open up the menu for upgrading your armor.
The amount of materials needed to upgrade each piece of armor will vary. In general, you'll be looking at anywhere between three Red Chuchu jellies and 10 Rupees for the initial upgrade, and then anywhere from five Rubies and ten Fire-Breath Lizalfos Horns for each subsequent upgrade. For instance the Champion Leathers can be upgraded to +5 defense, allowing you to keep up with a large group of adversaries in most cold climates and the Snowquill Headdress can be upgraded up to +20 defense, providing you enough protection to survive the full-on assault with a few friends.
It's important to note that armor cannot be upgraded in the same manner as weapons, so you'll want to work on upgrading it for physical power if you're Warrior or Spell Power when you're Mage. It is recommended to save your armor upgrades to upgrade the armor that you'll still be wearing at the end of the story, such as the Ring of Lightning, Spectral Shield or the mask you'll wear in the final boss fight, the Monter Parts Merchant Mask.
You can also unlock some advantages to your armor by presenting the jeweler in Gerudo Town 10 Twinkling Titanite. Generally speaking, you'll want to keep these upgrades for the weapon you'll use to win the game, like the Longsword, Battleaxe or Warhammer however, it could be useful to have some improvements to the helmets and chest armor that let you stealthy battle certain monsters.
Potions
Potions are liquids that, when consumed by the player, provide a temporary effect for a short period of time. There are five types of potions with different effects and durations. Certain potions can be upgraded to increase their effectiveness. You can also increase the effects of certain potions by including glowstone dust and redstone.
item upgrades to potion require a certain amount XP. This can be obtained through crafting them on a crafting table, or by storing them in the Alchemist chest. item upgrades of upgrades varies based on the type of potion as well as the item's Rarity and Mark Level.
To upgrade a potion, right-click on it in your inventory and choose the "Upgrade" option from the menu. This will open an GUI where you can select the potions you wish to upgrade and the amount of XP they'll produce when upgraded. You can upgrade potions in batches up to five at a time and their XP will be added to the total XP you currently have.
Once a poton is upgraded, it will not degrade until you take it out again or break the bottle within the container it is stored. You can also rename the potion by clicking it in your inventory.
Version 1.7.2 brought a few changes to the way potions are used. For example the splash potions now have an average duration of zero,08 seconds (this is not the same as 22.5 seconds shown on the item hover display). The table of potion now crafted from four Wood Planks, and two Glass. It can be used in both Survival and Bedrock. In contrast to the Java Edition, Bedrock edition potions can't be combined in cauldrons. This is the same for using a potion within an empty cauldron. This will draw out the potion, and refill the bottle.
In addition, there are lingering potions, which are made using dragon breath and splash potions. Redstone can also be added to lingering potions to enhance their effects. The table of potion ingredients is rearranged to look more like the Java Edition. New potions have also been added such as the potion of leaping and decomposition.
Trinkets
A trinket is a tiny and inexpensive ornament or piece of jewelry. It could also refer to an object or ornament that serves a purpose, but isn't particularly significant, such as a tiny thimble. In some cultures, a trinket is used to symbolize affection or friendship, specifically between family members.
In addition to armor, weapons, and potions, players can upgrade their trinkets. They can be upgraded by going to an upgrade vendor and paying the appropriate amount in currency. In contrast to other upgrades for items, trinkets can be swapped out at will without losing their status.
Upgrade vendors are located at the capitals of every zone, and in some instances in dungeons. Upgrades for trinkets can be purchased with gold, tokens, or fragments from trinkets that are rare.
Upgrading a trinket is an economical alternative to buying a new one. A player can upgrade a trinket with as little as 12 tokens. The new trinket will come with the same base ilvl of the older one, and have an additional 1% upgrade bonus.
Trinkets can be re-upgraded once they're not needed and allows players to increase their power and worth over time. They can also be traded between players, making them an extremely popular alternative to gold.
In general players should upgrade their most important items first. This means that the most-important slot items for each class are first upgraded then their secondary gear and finally other pieces of equipment they won't be replacing anytime soon (such as an earring or a cloak). Players should also consider their class's preferred stats when deciding the items to upgrade. For example when Haste and Crit are the two most important stats for tankers, they should be focusing on upgrading their helm, chest shoulders, belt, and helm.
Trinkets can be re-upgraded to a higher ilvl once they're no longer needed, and the new trinket will have an additional 1% upgrade bonus. However, a re-upgrade can cause the trinket to be destroyed until it is salvaged using a Black Lion Salvage Kit or a higher-tier salvage tool. This means upgrading trinkets is more expensive than other upgrades, but is still cheaper than buying the new one.
