5 Laws That Will Help The Item Upgrader Industry

World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Item upgrades can be used to boost the stats of a particular item. Based on the type of upgrade you choose, it can increase the rarity of an item or mark Level and boost additional stats.

Upgrading equipment in The War Within requires a specified number of Flightstones and Crests and each item has an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next item by a specific amount.

Item Level

When an item gets upgraded, its basic stats increase in value. This value is the sum of all of an item's upgraded perks (attack magic attack and defense). The cost of upgrading items can be high, dependent on the upgrader and what type of upgrade you choose to perform. This is due to the variety of perks that need to be altered to upgrade an item.

The level of an item is a widely used measurement of power and can be found on all tooltips of items. It can also be used as a gating requirement while waiting for dungeons, scenarios, and raids, as well as to limit the amount of PvP gear players can wear (since PvP is capped at an lower level). The average item level can be found in the character sheet.

When deciding whether to buy or sell equipment players can evaluate the levels of the item. It's a measure of the damage and quality. The item level can also be used to compare items when evaluating the inventory of a seller.

The level of the item can be viewed by pressing the ALT key on PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. This will display the item's full description, including ilvl. You can also find it by hovering over an item and typing in /itemlevel chat.

There are a few theories about how the item level calculation is carried out. One theory suggests that the level of an item is calculated by a formula that calculates the worth of an item's stats actually are. It considers the fact that different perks have different values and gems in sockets add to the value of the item overall. This could result in an item's ilvl calculated, which is often very close to Blizzard's real level of the item.

However, this is not the only factor that affects an item's ilvl, because the size of the area the item was dropped in could alter the value of its stats, for instance by adding a level to its haste rating or crit rating. Items that drop in higher-level instances will have a higher ilvl.

Item Stats

The item's stats can determine the fate of an item for players. The game makes use of them in a variety of ways to encourage players not to limit themselves to a single weapon and to encourage them to try out other weapons. The stat mods of a weapon boost the base stats. These stat mods are then increased by the player's level.

Upgrades to the item add by boosting certain stats on the item. The cost of upgrades is determined by the rarity of the item. An item that is white or grey, for example, will only be upgraded one time however, items with rare tiers can be upgraded several times at higher prices.

Another method to alter the stats on an item is to use affixes. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player, and they come in all sizes and shapes. Affixes are used to give items extra damage or other special capabilities (such as reviving dead or reducing cooling downs) or to distinguish them by naming them.

Presently, all affixes are able to be changed by selecting them from the upgrade window and pressing the green button, which is accompanied by circling arrows. This will cost a certain amount in gold and items. These can be used as upgrade gauges just like the other methods of rerolling.

Players can upgrade an item to specific stats, or reroll attaches. The range of stats is determined by the item's level. However each item will include at least one stat within the same range, unless it's an exclusive item or a God Roll from a raid boss.

This is another aspect that can be modified by introducing an option to upgrade the equipment without rerolling the affixes, or selecting which stats to enhance. Like base equipment, it would have to be done per item and the interface for item comparison will not show all possible stats at once.

Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player stacks up to increase the likelihood of item discoveries, the properties spawned on loot drops, and the intensity of those properties. However, it doesn't directly affect damage or ability to  upgrade item s. It provides players with the chance to upgrade equipment earlier in the game. This is more beneficial in the early game, since players tend to prioritize defenses and weapon scaling over raw damage gains.

In addition to influencing the discovery of items, Luck also increases the chances of being successful when upgrading items using the Blacksmith. This should not be confused with the Blacksmith's overall upgrade probability that increases with each item level and can be further increased by using an anti-material such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.

Armor, shields and weapons can spawn or be crafted by using the Luck property, which has a default value of 40. These items can then be enhanced by golden ingots, spined leather or oak boards (depending on the item's material type) to give +40 Luck or to boost the luck of an item up to 140.

Moreover, certain items, like the Hollow infused weapon, can be equipped to boost the damage of any damage-dealing skill by 5%. These items are available in the shop or created with the right ingredients.

Item Failure

Upgrades to items are a costly process and not all upgrades will be successful. Cash shop items can be used to boost the chance of success of an upgrade, or to protect players from losing their items if it fails.

When you upgrade an item, the rate of success is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage indicates the probability of successfully upgrading the item. This can be increased with Additional Materials or Special materials. The chance of success can only be increased so much, and the chance that an upgrade will fail can't exceed 100%.

The Luck of an item can also affect the success of an upgrade. All items have an average success rate of 25 percent, and every item with Luck increases this chance by 5percent.

The item upgrade overlays are displayed above items in the inventory. This may cause obscurity to enchantment effects or other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
