Path of Exile Item Upgrades
The performance of many Path of Exile items can be enhanced by upgrading their performance. They can be a fantastic source of additional damage and more AD or even more affixes.

Armor

Some of the upgrades also require magic or a hybrid technology and magic, as identified by the "Magic" and "Hybrids" entries in the table below. Certain upgrades also require fees to use. Most players will want to prioritize weapon upgrades for the weapons they use most frequently to help them level up faster. Additionally players, they should also consider upgrading the weapons that are most popular with their teammates to make them more powerful and effective. Shepard for instance, should upgrade the M92F to unlock the Beretta M93R. This will increase the effectiveness of the weapon when used in conjunction with biotic specialists like Grunt and Tali.
Jewels
Jewels can be used to boost the effectiveness of a skill or provide additional effects in armor and weapons. Jewelry crafting is the process of creating them. You combine a gemstone with a number specific reagents on a table. The higher the tier of the jewel is, the greater its secondary effect. These reagents can be found around the world through Treasure Goblins, World Bosses and sometimes by salvaging Legendary gear. You can also buy them from The Jeweler in exchange for gold and Scattered Prisms.
The Jeweler can boost the quality of a gem in stages ranging from Crude up to Royal. The boosts to stats will differ depending on the tier the jewel is at when it's slotted into weapons, jewelry, or equipment.
All levels of jewels are crafted at the Jeweler and Jeweler's Workshop, with the exception of the rare and legendary jewels which require you to be at a high enough level to qualify for the privilege of having them. Like other upgrade components jewels are able to be swapped with a jewel of the same type without damaging the original one. You can only replace the jewel once within an item of equipment.
item upgrading is normal to use more jewels to enhance the appearance of. In addition to improving performance, the jewels create an area that is stronger than metal, which means that repeated friction with pivots doesn't cause harm as easily.
In addition to the upgrades mentioned above players can also acquire glyphs for their weapons and shields from a Glyphmaster. The first trinket a player will be able to unlock is the cloak. It grants a small but beneficial boost in movement speed and the ability to escape. The player can then collect rings, amulets and necklaces in a similar fashion to how they acquired weapons and armor. Every piece of equipment has a slot for an upgrade which can be universal or jewel. Universal upgrades provide smaller bonuses and can be placed in any kind of equipment while jewelry cannot be replaced or upgraded and only works with certain kinds of trinkets.
These trinkets can provide additional bonuses and abilities that are active even when the hero isn't fighting. This allows a hero to be more efficient when they are not active. It can also make up for the lack of a good slots in the team or talent tree which would normally be filled by the hero's best stats.
As a rule trinket upgrades should be prioritized over BiS (Best in Slot) items you won't replace anytime soon. Next, any items that have desirable statistics aren't as important as the iLevel of the item that is to be upgraded. This is especially true if an item has multiple stats you'd like to upgrade as it's usually better to upgrade a single crucial stat than two subpar ones.
Jungle players usually upgrade their yellow trinkets to a red trinket at the beginning of the game. Mid and top players however will pick a pink or green ward, based on the game's matchup. These choices will have an impact on the ability of a hero to control the map.
